Job Description Summary
The Department of General Services is currently seeking to hire a student assistant (SA). The student will work under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, and will provide integral assistance for the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) Special Education Division and provides support to fulfill all aspects of the requirements of its interagency agreements regarding data, event, communications, and case management tasks. The SA is expected to exercise initiative and critical thinking in performing assigned tasks. This position may be required to handle confidential information under the direct guidance of journey level staff. The student will provide maximum service by facilitating access due to Special Education (SE) process and mediations and serving as an exceptional liaison between families, educators and OAH and to assist satisfactory resolutions of cases.
Conditions of Employment
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises Inc., (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.
Flexible, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Final schedule will be determined between the supervisor and student.
Additional Work Schedule
Student Assistants and Graduate Student Assistants generally work up to 20 hours per work week (Sunday-Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per work week during breaks; (Winter, Spring and Summer).
Student Assistants are not permitted to telecommute or work remotely.

The Office of Legislative Affairs (OLA) coordinates all legislative activities for the Department of General Services (DGS), including the development of bill analyses to representing the department at legislative hearings. OLA also coordinates specific legislative reports due to the California Legislature from DGS.
