Job Description Title: Application Scientist II, Cell and Gene Therapy How will I make an impact? What will you do? * The Cell Therapy application group is looking for an exceptional person who is proficient in a variety of cell biology related techniques, from isolation to engineering, expansion to analysis. We are looking for someone dedicated to make a positive impact in Cell therapy by developing new innovative cell therapy manufacturing systems that will enable our customers to develop the therapies of tomorrow and make them accessible to all. Collaborates with others and embraces and leverages diversity of culture and thought Responsibilities * Participate in development activities for new processes and procedures for human T cell therapy, including design of process scale-up/scale-out for isolation, activation, gene modification, expansion, harvest, formulation and fill/finish using automation and closed systems. * Integrate platforms and reagents into an automated solution, working closely with process and software engineers * Author and execute protocols, worksheets and/or SOPs to the levels that they are transferable internally to other Thermo Fisher Scientific sites and externally to customers. * Support process transfer to customers * Author technical documents and PPT presentation How will you get here? * Demonstrated experience with the development of bio-processes for cell therapy preferred. * Experience in Design of Experiments and statistical analysis. * Experience with analytical techniques preferred. * Ability to work independently in a fast paced team environment, meet deadlines, prioritize work across multiple projects. * Must have excellent organizational, attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills. * Proven ability to identify strategic opportunities, set aggressive objectives, and drive key business priorities. * Willingness to do what needs to be done in a dynamic environment * Experience developing and presentation materials * Strong Biological background and experience with immune cells isolation, engineering and culture Education Requirements M.S. in biochemical engineering, immunology, pharmaceutical or life sciences and 0-2 years of relevant experience, preferably in industrial setting. Minimum Qualifications . * Experience in T cell therapy workflow is highly preferred. Experience with cell therapy automation instruments/platforms is a plus. * Working experience in process development or manufacturing setting is highly desired. * Experience in cell therapy analytical assays, including identity, purity and potency, is preferred. * Experience in Immunology is highly preferred * Experience in viral or non-viral genetic modification is preferred. * Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment, meet deadlines, prioritize work across multiple projects. * Self-starter with strong work ethic. * Must have excellent organizational, attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills. * Anticipates needs and problems while creating solutions Working Conditions: Works in a laboratory environment. Is required to lift up to 40 lbs. May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties. Must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials.
