Financial Reporting Manager

As the External Financial Reporting Manager, you will oversee the preparation and analysis of The RealReal Inc.'s external financial reporting in compliance with applicable regulations (i.e. SEC rules & regulations, GAAP, etc.). You will coordinate the review of the SEC filings with our external auditors. This position will also oversee The RealReal's accounting for stock-based compensation. You will partner with various stakeholders in the Company including legal and investor relations.This position is based in San Francisco, CA and will report to the Director, Technical Accounting and Reporting.What You Get To Do Every Day* Prepare financial statements and disclosures for external financial reporting, including 10Q/Ks, 8K's and earnings.* Prepare and maintain supporting schedules and disclosure checklists.* Anticipate new ASC and SEC disclosure requirements and update disclosures accordingly.* Manage the external auditor's review of the SEC filings and coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audits of financial statements.* Preparation of the Statement of Cash Flows.* Record monthly entries for equity and balance sheet accounts.* Conduct research on accounting literature pertaining to new business initiatives and/or transactions. Accounting transactions can include software capitalization or facilities transactions.* Assist with or review the XBRL taxonomy.* Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls as it pertains to financial reporting and equity.* Assist in various ongoing and ad-hoc projects or initiatives.What You Bring To The Role* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.* 4-7 years of professional accounting experience, CPA and public accounting experience is preferred.* Solid knowledge of financial statements, US GAAP and SEC reporting.* Ability to conduct accounting research and summarize results accurately and independently.* Experience with ActiveDisclosure/Workiva and XBRL is a plus.* Strong communication, collaboration skills and ability to partner with cross-functional teams.* Detail-oriented and commitment to a high level of accuracy.* Self starter with excellent time-management and organizational skills with a proven track record to meet firm deadlines.* Well organized and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.The RealReal is the world's largest online marketplace for authenticated, consigned luxury goods.
