Job Description The Risk Services Program function is led by the Head of Risk Programs who reports directly to the Chief Controls Officer. The Risk Services Program is responsible for building the vision, roadmap, and implementation plan for the First Line of Defense risk management capabilities and drives the program's success by developing monitoring and governance for sustainable implementation. The Risk Services Program is focused on program management, regulatory and audit engagement, reporting and analytics, communication, and training, and change management and will support senior management, the enterprise, and external stakeholders in meeting the objectives of the Chief Controls Office. The mission of the Chief Controls Office is to maintain a strong and consistent control environment through a customer-centric approach that aligns with each line of business, function, and region to mitigate non-financial risks. The Chief of Staff will report directly to and partner with the Head of Risk Programs. This critical, trusted leadership role as the strategic right-hand person/chief of staff to the Head of Risk Programs drives strategic business planning, communication, and change management activities. This role must work closely with the Head of Risk Programs in the following ways: * Trusted advisor and brainstorming partner * Leader and guide to help lead and initiate change throughout the organization * Helping strategic ideas take root and providing early facilitation until a more formal project is established * Thinking strategically while providing tactical support to implement ideas * Providing nimbleness to be able to address pressing business issues that need immediate attention * Making connections across the enterprise that others may not see * Providing independent, informed, unbiased insight, including on the ground feedback. The essential functions and key responsibilities of the Chief of Staff include the following areas: * Manage programs, deliverables, and projects across the risk programs of the Chief Controls Office. Develop and/or assist with developing plans for delivery of initiatives * Create and publish progress against plans. Plan and lead planning sessions with the management team * Plan, manage and facilitate meetings for groups and individuals, including objectives, agenda and scheduling, in order to gather information and/or develop solutions * Drive a cohesive approach to aligning to change management activities including communications planning, training, and stakeholder management across the Chief Controls Office and the first line of defense * Coordinate change management efforts and align approach, communications, and execution of change efforts with other internal and external stakeholders * Define an enterprise-wide non-financial risk related learning strategy and a related curriculum in partnership with enterprise training functions, develop a framework for evaluating the effectiveness of risk-based training * Drive risk awareness, risk accountability, and risk culture throughout the company * Support Head of Risk Programs in preparation of board, executive committee, and external stakeholder presentations * Convey ideas and recommendations in a clear, compelling, and succinct way in written and verbal communications * Think critically and quickly identify underlying problems needing to be solved, or recognize when and where additional data or context is required to reach a solution * Multi-task and handle various projects simultaneously to drive timely results, prioritizing effectively and facilitating action across remote groups * Provide FTE revenue and projections to internal stakeholders * Collect and package information for analysis and presentation Qualifications * 8+ years of experience in the following areas: project management, change management, risk management, strategy development, and experience driving organizational change * Substantial experience in supporting change management efforts from planning through execution, including managing large complex cross-company transformation programs * Strong communication proficiency, including across teams and organizations, and experience utilizing oral and written communication skills along with presentation skills * Demonstrated ability to quickly build trust and relationships, manage matrixed teams, bridge communication gaps, resolve conflicts, and influence stakeholders at all levels (including executives) * Excellent organizational skills and ability to quickly break down large, complex initiatives into logical, manageable work packages, tasks, and sub-tasks for execution * Ability to multitask with simultaneous projects and tasks, while demonstrating urgency, prioritization, and ownership to drive issues to completion * Polished diplomacy, active listening, persuasiveness, and presentation skills to communicate changes and gain consensus, and cooperation in the face of conflicting viewpoints, resistance to change, and other constraints * Critical-thinking, business analysis, and process engineering skills to manage, contribute to, and foresee pitfalls in process-related deliverables * Experience developing presentations and presenting to executive management or Board * Strong business acumen in financial services or related industry, and a proven ability to balance strategic thinking with practical implementation skills. * Excellent project management skills and the ability to motivate teams and drive performance * High energy and proven track record of accomplishments and results * Strong interpersonal skills, with evidence of working in collaboration across large, complex organizations, including effective influencing skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues/requests Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred © 2021 SVB Financial Group.
