With lush groves of redwood trees and wildlife in abundance, it's a hidden gem and the ideal place to write the next chapter of your life, both professional and personal.Through innovative care, collaborative partnerships, and a powerful people-first philosophy, come experience what we have to offer and discover your potential at Sutter Coast Hospital.Job Summary:The Surgery Technologist (ST or CST if certified) principal function is in the scrub role, providing necessary and appropriate equipment, instrumentation and supplies for all surgical and procedural services provided at Sutter Coast Hospital according to standards and policies of the department and hospital to assure quality patient care. Performs housekeeping duties as necessary and assists in maintenance of supplies and equipment. Provides assistance in emergency procedures as well as scheduled cases. Assists in preparation, transportation and observation of patients. Maintains education in surgical and related aspects of care. Reports to the Manager of Surgery Services. Functions under the direct supervision of the RN in the Operating Room. On a daily basis takes direction from the Charge Nurse. Requires strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills. Requires flexibility to accommodate emergencies as well as changing schedules and priorities. Takes call as assigned.Education/Certifications/Licensure:* High School diploma is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.* AA/AS is desired.* A certificate of completion of a Surgical Technologist Training Program or verification of completion of on-the-job training is required.* BLS for healthcare providers is required.* Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists is desired.Experience / Knowledge / Skills* A minimum of 1 (one) year of Operating Room experience in an acute care facility within the past 3 (three) years with competence to function in the scrub role is highly preferred.* Basic knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment and supplies.* Basic Central Processing techniques and procedures / how to operate sterilizing equipment appropriately.* Demonstrated skills in all surgical services provided at Sutter Coast Hospital.
