A full-service acute care facility serving the residents of Tracy for over 60 years, Sutter Tracy Community Hospital (STCH) has a total of 82 inpatient beds. STCH provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services including: a 24-hour emergency department, inpatient and ambulatory surgical services, endoscopy lab, intensive care, diagnostic imaging, laboratory and rehabilitation services including physical, speech and occupational therapy. STCH also has specialized care for Hemodialysis, Family Birthing Center, Continence Center and a Pain Management Center. STCH is a not-for-profit, community-based hospital, affiliated with Sutter Health since 1993. Develops programs designed to enrich skills or meet identified goals and educational needs within the affiliate. Collaborates with department managers regarding development and evaluation of staff competency assessments; and serves as a resource for department based preceptors/mentors. Manages and administers the successful implementation of assigned projects as defined by Sutter Health needs. Assists in the development and implementation of computer based clinical educational programs and required documentation. Plays a key role in process improvement and LEAN projects by performing operational assessments and analyses. Research and identify best practices, facilitating groups and teams, managing projects, presenting results and recommendation and developing measurement tools to improve operating processes toward greater efficiency and effectiveness. Works as part of the education and nursing teams in the development of educational programs including those for surgical services and wound care. Assist and administer regulatory competency Program development with an assessment and evaluation process. Collaborates with and supports Managers/Directors in the development of patient care standards and to support department goals. Participates in the preparation of manuals, guides, policies and other materials contributing to improving clinical performance, updating staff instruction, and the maintenance of patient care standards. Develops and evaluates instructional material for use in educational programs, both staff and patient/family education. Serves as a clinical consultant to patient care staff, physicians and other ancillary staff as appropriate. Instructs in programs within areas of expertise. Collaborates with Sutter Health educators, community educators, educators from other healthcare agencies, and educational service agencies to share and coordinate educational offerings. Ensures that competencies throughout the department meet regulatory needs and standards. Provides subject matter expertise in the surgical services department. Provides oversight and may ensure PIC Cards are updated. Responsible for education to staff and new hires for EPIC modules used and specialty orientation in the Surgical Services Department, to include infusion, pain, GI, Operating room, sterile processing and wound care services. Minimum Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; or, a graduate of an accredited nursing program. * A Registered Nurse licensure in the state of California * 2 years of recent nursing experience. * A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire * A current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification upon hire * A current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification upon hire * Variable travel (rarely) * Able to work variable shifts (PM, weekend, on-call/standby) - rarely Preferred Requirements * Master's in Nursing (MSN) or related field preferred * Demonstrated teaching experience Skills & Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of education theory and practice. Ability to read, writes, understand and follow English verbal and written instructions. Knowledge of and experience with Simulation training techniques and learning labs. Intermediate within one year. Knowledge of and experience with e-learning platforms, Healthstream is preferable. Experience with Microsoft Office, EPIC and OpTime preferred. Demonstrated oral and written skills. Ability to work collaboratively with hospital staff, management, physicians, and outside agencies. Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of word-processing, presentation & spreadsheet software, contribution to OR Dashboard. Must have effective problem solving skills and ability to concentrate on multiple and varied tasks meeting deadlines. Ability to work with a minimal amount of supervision and effectively establish work priorities while receiving work from more than one person. Works closely with business and clinical operations to obtain or create workflow documentation of current application use.
