Job Description

The Dealership Controller is responsible for managing the financial operations and human resources function of a motorcycle / powersports or automotive dealership in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Controller partners with the dealership’s general manager to provide analysis of the dealership’s financial results and assists in strategic planning for the dealership. Partners with the corporate human resources director to ensure human resource processes and policies are observed. Manages the accounting department and other staff as appropriate. Supports the dealership’s general manager and corporate controller with projects as required.

Safeguard the Assets of the Dealership

· Act as the liaison for corporate in implementing strategic objectives at the dealership.

· Partner with Corporate Shared Services (SSRC) to ensure accounting/HR policies and processes are followed by all store personnel

· Ensure compliance with all applicable governmental finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, property tax, sales tax filings, etc.

· Ensure all vehicle deal, financial, payroll, and employee records are maintained, retained, and destroyed in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.

· Coordinate processing of financial transactions to ensure accounting policies, procedures, and reporting requirements are being followed.

· Maintain appropriate segregation of duties in the accounting office.

Financial Reporting and Accounting

· Prepare accurate financial reports and statements on a timely basis.

· Perform required daily accounting processes.

· Complete the financial monthly close of store in a timely manner.

· Maintain the general ledger and scheduled accounts, keeping subledgers in balance with the GL

· Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and record any and all adjustments in the appropriate reporting period.

· Supervise the control of the petty cash accounts

· Supervise and review the reconciliation of the Fixed Asset System to the general ledger accounts

· Facilitate the preparation of work papers and answer auditor requests and questions during the annual audit

· Participate in the preparation of financial forecasts and the annual Plan for the dealership

Education and Experience

· Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or similar field from a four-year college or university preferred

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the business office of a multi-line powersports or automotive dealership with experience as the controller preferred.

· Prior experience working with dealership software systems (i.e. CDK Lightspeed - NXT or EVO etc.) preferred

Skills and Specialized Knowledge

· Working knowledge of personal computing software including Microsoft Office

· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data, reports, and procedures

· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from dealership and corporate management

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Other Requirements (physical demands, work environment, mental function, etc.)

· Standing, walking, and/or sitting for extended periods of time

· Ability to communicate via phone for long periods

· Ability to use hands and fingers to type/enter a high volume of data into computer programs

· Ability to see computer monitor and/or printouts with complex, compact reports and data

· Ability to work nights/weekends as necessary, primarily related to month end close procedures

· Ability to travel for company business 2-3 times per year for periods of up to a week in duration

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $105,000 annual, with $10K Bonus Potential
