Senior Resource Planning Analyst
Employment Type: Full-Time
Education: BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university majoring in engineering, economics or related field or equivalent experience. If no degree then nine (9) years of experience is required.
Experience: Five or more (5+) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience in electricity related fields such as production costs modeling, market price forecasting, and utility related financial and economic analysis.
Knowledge Of: SMUD business strategies, planning and decision making processes; SMUD organization, accounting and finance practices; SMUD generation, power contracts, transmission, and distribution resources; current utility structure including lSO/PX procedures and applicable federal, state and local regulation; electricity power production, transmission and distribution operations; physical and contractual characteristics of WSCC regional transmission and generating systems; WSCC supply, operating and transmission planning criteria; economic, financial and business analytical techniques; SEC, CEC, WSCC and FERC reporting for purposes of acquiring utility financial and operating data for competitive analysis purposes; standard operating procedures for modern office equipment including a computer and applicable software; English grammar, punctuation and vocabulary standards.
Skill To: Conceptualize and develop an organized analytic approach to provide the information necessary to support corporate policy and business strategies; estimate marginal costs for SMUD's power, transmission, distribution and customer service components; perform production cost and financial forecasts with the aid of sophisticated computer programs; perform resource and financial evaluations; organize, write, edit and present analyses and information in both written and oral form; effectively manage complex projects and contracted consultant and assigned task force personnel; utilize a personal computer and/or computer terminal, systems and software relevant to the job; communicate effectively orally and in writing internally/externally; establish and maintain effective working relationships internally/externally.
