Clinical Lab Scientist I or II - Genomics

The Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) Level I or Level II will be responsible for but not limited to: a variety of high-complexity, clinical laboratory testing in Molecular biology or Genomic environment. Perform QC/QA procedures for various reagents and instruments, preventive maintenance & test validation. Review & report test results in accordance with laboratory standards. Writing laboratory operating procedures under supervisions. Maintain working knowledge of hospital & laboratory policies & procedures. Expected to be able to complete assigned tasks in timely manner. Involving or participating new assay development under supervisions. Be able to troubleshoot common procedural relevant issues.
Candidates must be knowledgeable of next generation sequencing in relevant clinical laboratory setting. He/she/they can independently perform various clinical laboratory procedures under supervision. Techniques involved are: Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) library construction, quality control and sequencing including whole genome sequencing and whole Exome or Panel sequencing. Other basic molecular technical skills such as electrophoresis, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and extraction DNA from different type of specimens are also weighted. Experience with automations and laboratory informatics management system (LIMS) and Sanger sequencing is a plus.
The ideal candidate shows good follow-up, multi-tasking and communication skills. He/she/they maintains their focus on critical or essential goals in the laboratory, and is not easily distracted. The role requires prioritizing tasks and consistently demonstrating persistency towards the goal. The candidate is required to be knowledgeable of CLIA/CAP/CA compliance and research regulatory policies. They must be able to implement such rules accordingly during daily laboratory production.
This position also requires the candidate to work on weekends (mainly Saturdays) and a late shift up to 9pm from Tuesday to Saturday. Candidate is expected to be flexible and can respond to requests in a timely manner.
