Our teams of scientists, engineers and others are developing next generation molecular and immunoassay platforms and testing options. Quidel is excited to be offering a paid internship within our R&D team. Internship orientation will start in mid-June and will end in mid-August. INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY * The Quidel R&D team is looking for an Product Development Intern for Summer of 2022. The ideal candidate will be an undergraduate junior, senior, or graduate student majoring Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry or Biology. They will have basic pipetting, buffer prep and sample dilution techniques. The individual should have a desire to learn more about antibody and protein analytical characterization methods in an industry setting. This individual will work on a project related to antibody discovery and development. This individual will learn how to analytically characterize proteins physically and functionally using a variety of experimental tools such as spectrophotometry, SDS-PAGE, HPLC, ELISA, and others. INTERNSHIP EXPECTATIONS * Quidel has high expectations of our selected interns. The projects focused on are important to the continued success of our business. Interns should be prepared to fully commit to the start and end dates proposed and may need to travel between our San Diego locations (Mira Mesa, Sorrento Valley, & Carlsbad). Although a number of our employees are working remotely given the COVID-19 pandemic, we do plan on having a return to work and hosting internships at a San Diego facility. Interns are expected to maintain the same professionalism and confidentiality as our employees. As the program comes to an end interns will be expected to give a presentation on their process, findings, and results. Interns are expected to provide their own housing, travel, and any other requirements necessary for their participation in this program. Quidel will not pay for or reimburse for any travel, room, board, or other expense incurred. Compensation for interns will pay up to $19.00 per hour for undergraduates, based on academic year, and up to $21.00 per hour for graduate students.
