Providence is calling an Optometrist (Per diem/Variable shift) to Providence Facey Medical Foundation in Canyon Country, CA. We are seeking an Optometrist who will provide a broad gamut of eye health and vision services within the scope of the Optical Department. In this position you will: * Perform job functions timely and efficiently * Performance Criteria: * Deliver upon the service expectations of both our patients and fellow staff members by listening to their needs; engaging in positive interactions; and following through on promises made in a thoughtful, efficient, timely and courteous manner so that their total outcome is better than expected * Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients. * Work in a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards. Report any unsafe conditions to their supervisor and/or the safety hotline. * Perform comprehensive eye health and vision examinations. * Provide diagnoses and treatment of eye diseases and vision disorders. * Prescribe glasses and contact lenses. * Prescribe vision rehabilitation and vision therapy. * Counsel patients regarding their surgical alternatives and vision needs as related to their occupations, avocations and lifestyles. * Meet the Department quality of care standard in the performance of all essential job functions. * Provide complete and accurate documentation in the patient medical report. * Maintain patient flow. * Demonstrate awareness of current state, federal and local laws governing the delivery of care. * Performance Criteria: * Use appropriate reporting mechanisms as required by state laws. * Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients. * Obtain appropriate authorizations and consents for treatment. * The customer service standards of the organization are reflected in daily work habits. * Performance Criteria: * Achieve patient satisfaction, demonstrating the customer service standards of the organization. * Adhere to established policies contained in the Personnel and Optometry Department manuals. * Physician and fellow staff members are treated courteously. * Respond to requests from other departments in a timely, positive and friendly manner. * Provide open communication with patients, promoting patient education and wellness. * Demonstrate the ability to make decisions, take appropriate action and follow tasks through to completion. * Recognize and analyze the implications of new situations and develops workable solutions to maintain productivity. * Respond cooperatively to Supervisors, Managers and Staff Members, promoting teamwork. * Demonstrate commitment to education and sharing of knowledge * Performance Criteria: * Obtain ongoing education consistent with level and area of practice * Follow proper safety precautions. * Performance Criteria: * Demonstrate proper use of protective equipment. * Use proper body mechanics when assisting patients, moving equipment, etc. * Dispose of used products in the appropriate manner. * Maintain appropriate licensure/certifications * Demonstrate behaviors which are consistent with the Code of Conduct and aligned with the organization's mission, vision and shared values. * Performance Criteria: * Report promptly any suspected or potential violations to laws, regulations, procedures, policies and practices, and cooperates in investigations. * Conduct all transactions in compliance with all company policies, procedures, standards and practices. * Demonstrate knowledge of all applicable compliance and legal requirements of the job based on the scope of practice of the position. * Ensure that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times. * Performance Criteria: * Excellent attendance record. * Wear appropriate clothing for job functions. * Work at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with staff and physician offices. * Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community. * Maintain organizational and patient confidentiality at all times. Required qualifications for this position include: * Completion of a Doctor of Optometry program, obtaining and O.D. degree from an accredited school or college of Optometry. * Bachelor's Degree in Biology, physiology or other health science related field. * Current license to practice optometry in the State of California Preferred qualifications for this position include: * Two (2) years of experience working as an Optometrist.
