PPG Architectural Coatings has a leadership opportunity for the US Trade Zone General Manager. As a Zone General Manager, you will have responsibility for the selling and operations functions over markets in the Western US (California, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Montana, Nevada, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregan, Washington). Key activities include driving accountability for sales growth, in-depth market analysis, team performance, training effectiveness, and capability development, and structured communications resulting in market share growth. The implementation, oversight, and usage of key selling and performance management tools including Clientlink (CRM) and Miller Heiman training are critical to success and the Zone GM will be responsible for implementing and executing the Selling Machine to 100% compliance. In this leadership role, the Zone General Manager must live the PPG Way. Key Responsibilities: * Total responsibility for both Sales and Operations for assigned zone including P&L, sales, retail stores, personnel, and inventory. * Provide direction and strategy to regional managers to drive and achieve sales and profit objectives for the market. * Maintain contact and build relationships with current and potential customers. * Supervise recruitment, training, and development of sales and operations force, directly responsible for the region managers, support and implement the performance and learning process. * Responsible for ensuring that zone administration requirements are met - duties include employee compensation, forecasting, credit, employee expense reporting, price quoting, sales tracking, sales reporting, automation, territory realignments, annual profit plan, and complaint handling. * Oversees the operation of 100 - 200 company-owned paint stores to ensure discipline and efficiency in sales and store operations. * Lead store planning and new store opening start-up. * Implement standardized operating procedures and optimal processes reflecting both industry practice and the use of quality tools. * Work directly with the business unit functions to provide field feedback on performance issues and customer requirements. * Collaborate and coordinate team selling activities across sales and operations teams. * Enforce and maintain equal employment and ethical standards in accordance with PPG policy. * Provide a safe and healthy work environment by maintaining PPG standards regarding employee and community safety, health, and environmental issues. Qualifications: * Progressive sales and operations responsibilities with a minimum of 10 years related experience * Bachelor of Science degree in business required or equivalent experience accepted. * Capable of directly leading a team of up to 15 direct reports and 400 indirect reports. * Strong negotiation skills are required to maximize profitable growth opportunities with key retailers. * Well-developed organization and interpersonal skills to lead and develop team members. * Ability to set the strategic direction for the zone and ensure the vision is implemented by direct and indirect reports.
