JOB DESCRIPTIONTitle: Social Worker IDepartment/Division: Social ServicesStatus:Full-TimeSalary: Hourly/DOESupervisor: Director of Social ServicesSubordinates: nonePOSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director, the Tribal Social Workerwill be responsible for ensuring that the medically related, emotional andsocial needs of the Tribal members are met and maintained on an individual basisin accordance with policies and procedures and current federal, state and localstandards, guidelines and regulations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide in-home and group parenting classes to Tribal member parents andguardiansProvide supervised visitation services aimed at preventing child abuse andneglectCase managementProvide parents and the Pala community with psychoeducational informationand materials to promote healthy parenting styles that align with Nativecultural valuesAssess the needs of Tribal families and provide parents and guardians withresource referralsMaintain records and filesPrepare letters and documentsGrant reporting and associated activitiesAttends court cases as neededEnsure the confidentiality of Tribal members and familiesPerform related functions as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CERTIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:Child development, community resources, counseling, cultural competence, andconfidentialityTeach, nurture and empower program participantsAbility to work independently but with strong teamwork commitmentAbility to use computer for data entry and periodic reportingEndorsement and support of family preservation goals, Tribal culture andphilosophyGood interpersonal communication and organizational skillsMaintain ethical guidelinesCollaborate with community partner agencies to access appropriate referralservices for familiesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Four-year college degree in Social Work, Early Child Education/Development,Psychology or any other related field, OR an A.A. in Early ChildhoodEducation/DevelopmentTwo years of experience in providing case management to families in aneducational or behavioral health setting.Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a Drug-Free workplace as a conditionof employment with the Pala Band of Mission Indians.Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing (including marijuana)during employment.Must be able to pass a background check and be able to work with children.Indian preference will apply. The Pala Band of Mission Indians will givehiring preference to fully qualified applicants that are Pala Tribal Members.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:All employees are expected to follow the Tribal Employee Handbook of the PalaBand of Mission Indians and must adhere to any additional applicable addendums.' />
