Providence is calling a Health Information Management Technician I (Full-Time/Day Shift) to Providence Facey Medical Foundation in Mission Hills, CA Please upload a current resume reflecting all professional nursing experience. We are seeking a Health Information Management Technician I who will ensure the quality of the patient's medical record by verifying the accuracy and proper entry into the electronic health record system. Performs document imaging/scanning, document indexing and quality assurance of the electronic record while maintaining patient privacy and security. Provides a high level of customer service in coordinating patient information through all caregivers, clinical departments, and billing departments according to the organization's policy and procedure. In this position you will: * Deliver upon the service expectations of both our patients and fellow staff members by listening to their needs; engaging in positive interactions; and following through on promises made in a thoughtful, efficient, timely and courteous manner so that their total outcome is better than expected * Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients * Work in a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards * Report any unsafe conditions to their supervisor and/or the safety hotline * Prepare medical records, clinical reports and forms for document imaging/scanning by sorting and organizing paper clinical reports according to established document imaging/scanning protocols * Performsdocument imaging/scanning of medical records and clinical reports into the electronic health record following established scanning protocols and maintaining productivity standards * Understand the content of the electronic health record and all aspects of retrieving information from the electronic health record system * Utilize document imaging/scanning equipment and software system along with point and click functionality to perform scanning functions * Index clinical data and reports accurately and timely into the electronic health record following the established standards and criteria, as identified on the approved chart order (Document Type Listing) * Maintain Batch Queue according to Scanning and Indexing Expectations * Review health information in the patient's record so that it is arranged properly according to established chart order criteria * Possibly greet and answers phones * Establish and maintain courteous, cooperative and appropriate relations when interacting with customer * Possibly assist with handling complaints in a professional manner and refers to the Lead or Site Supervisor/Manager when necessary * Demonstrate courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and their families * Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients * Maintain strict confidentiality of all health information, ensuring that no unauthorized person or persons have access to the health information, both while on and off duty * Communicate effectively at all levels - internally and externally - within the organization, and expressing ideas and information clearly and concisely, in verbal and written form * Assists clinical providers and departments with retrieving and uploading document images, i.e. pictures of pt's requiring uploading into the electronic health record * Actively contributes to the morale and teamwork of the staff and facility and always presents a positive attitude and patient-minded vision, with patient satisfaction as the continuing goal Required qualifications for this position includes: * Able to work quickly and accurately with numbers, arrange numbers in numerical sequence * Working knowledge of computers and Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel * Able to work independently and as a member of a team Preferred qualifications for this position includes: * Course in health information technology or health sciences * One (1) year of Health information management experience * Knowledge of information systems and healthcare applications related to the electronic health record About the hospital you will serve.
