Medical Center: Dosimetrist 2 (Full-time, Day Shift) -

Under the supervision of a medical physicist and in collaboration with the radiation oncologist, the Dosimetrist 2 is responsible for radiation treatment simulation, treatment planning, and treatment delivery. Independently performs monitor unit and dose calculations for radiation fields, recommends and performs in-vivo dosimetry measurements for delivered dose verification. Participates in brachytherapy procedures including planning, radioactive source handling, and radiation surveys. Participates in special procedures (total body irradiation [TBI], eye treatment simulation and planning, stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), and intensity-modulated radiation therapy [IMRT]. Trains new employees and participates in academic programs. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.
Bachelor's Degree in Physics or related field required. Training in dosimetry through completion of a certificate program in dosimetry accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) required. Minimum of three years of experience in dosimetry required. Minimum three years of work- experience in dosimetry required. Certification as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB) required. Valid Driver's License required at time of hire.
Advanced expertise in radiation dosimetry gained through education and practical experience. Knowledge of radiation physics, radiation therapy equipment, human anatomy, oncology principles, radiobiology, radiation safety, and computer skills. Able to read, write, and speak in English with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously even when under pressure. Think critically, work independently with minimal supervision, perform basic math functions, manage multiple assignments effectively, problem solve, organize and prioritize workload, recall information with accuracy, pay close attention to details. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
