GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Aquatics Program Coordinator (Deck Coordinator) is responsible for facilitating the day-to-day operation of the JCCSF Swim School, primarily focused on the group swim lesson program. This is a highly visible position and is the first point of contact for any parent(s) or patrons that have questions, need clarification or any general knowledge about the swim lesson program, its philosophy, its goals, its methods, its schedule, its teachers or any other relevant information. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Be on deck and accessible during assigned hours and greet all incoming participants * Be knowledgeable and proficient in explaining the philosophy, curriculum and operations of Swim School operation * Display a positive, customer service focused and professional image * Actively engage with the participants of the above programs on a regular basis to identify areas of opportunity, answer questions they may have, or share observations about how their child is doing in the program. * Maintain a working knowledge of all program areas and actively communicate program information to all stakeholders, including clients and staff. * Provide assistance with registration and/or operational functions using Salesforce CRM system Participant Guidance: *
  • Answer any questions and provide clear guidance to participants about the JCCSF Swim School program * Direct participants and parents to the appropriate teaching station * Verify all children are in the appropriate class and keep attendance * Hand out information sheets, progress report cards and graduation certificates to participants when appropriate * Manage and update the class assignment white board * Ensure that all registration forms are being collected and placed on file for all participants * Assist with courteous calls for students who missed class Instructor Guidance/Direction: *
  • With direction from the Assistant Aquatics Manager: * Train and coach all new/ current swim instructors in the JCCSF Swim School teaching model * Create In-service training agendas * Ensure that staff know their responsibilities and management's expectations for each responsibility and that they can perform them * Monitor and evaluate teacher effectiveness based on JCCSF Swim School checklists * Set up & take down class sections and equipment * Verify all teachers are present 15 minutes early for a briefing * Direct Instructors to proper teaching station * Conduct monthly 'first week' Instructor informational meetings * Assist swim instructors with any set-up or take-down duties * Call/locate any absent teachers * Teach the class/s in the event of a teacher being tardy or absent * Ensure the enforcement of all rules and procedures * Actively monitor and evaluate all participants in program to ensure proper placement * Lead Swim School participants in the event of emergencies * Manage creation and completion of report card and certificate process * Take an active role in training any new instructors * Provide input to management regarding Swim School staff per the JCCSF evaluation policy procedures and timeframes * Attend all mandatory office staff, lifeguard and swim instructor in-service trainings as necessary * Maintain a clean, organized workspace * Display a positive, customer service focused and professional image * Complete other assignments as directed * Additional duties as needed REQUIREMENTS: * Outstanding customer service skills and experience working in a customer-centric organization * Experience working with children * Experience as a Swim Instructor a plus * Outstanding computer skills, including advanced skills in MS Office. Experience with Salesforce a plus * Ability to work as part of a team and effectively engage and coordinate with various stakeholders (both staff and clients) * Ability to multi-task, setting appropriate priorities, while ensuring that all deadlines are honored. * Ability to learn and use office technologies and systems * Must pass the JCCSF Swim School training program and demonstrate proficiency * Must be able to fully commit to all scheduled dates STATUS: Non-exempt, non-supervisory, benefited, hourly position. HOURS: Weekends 8am-2pm. Additional hours based on availability. Health & Safety: In order to keep staff and participants as safe and healthy as possible, all staff working on-site will be required to be vaccinated (COVID-19) prior to beginning work.
