Job Title: Director of Sales, Next Generation Sequencing, Western Americas

Location: USA, Remote

Purpose statement:

As a key leader of IDT’s commercial leadership team, the Director of Sales NGS will drive results through exceptional leadership skills, consistently championing and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.

The Director will lead IDT’s team of world-class Territory Sales Managers and Field Applications Scientists, instilling a growth and innovation mindset and inspiring the team to excel in their careers.

As a critical member of IDT’s global commercial team, The Director of Sales will influence the evolution of the strategy and structure of the function for the entire company.

Essential Functions:

  • Build and deploy sales strategies and tactics for the region and position IDT as the leader in target market segments.  Deploy sales strategy in the field, devise and implement action plans and counter measures as needed.

  • Lead and develop the sales and field applications team to consistently meet/exceed goals.  Attract top talent to the organization and provide coaching to help the team succeed.

  • Through an in-depth understanding of the market, customer application and IDT’s unique capabilities, uncover new opportunities for growth.

  • Apply CRM and funnel management tools to continually improve processes such as prospecting, building opportunity pipeline and territory management. 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and stake holders.  Leverage this network to build loyalty and to secure long term business partnerships


  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Life Sciences, Genomics or Molecular/Cellular Biology.  Or a combination of education and experience.

Professional Experience:

  • Sales management experience is required, with track record of meeting or exceeding targets

  • Working knowledge of various sequencing technologies and platforms (Illumina, PacBio, ONT, MGI, etc) and sample preparation components including library preparation of DNA and RNA, target enrichment, single cell platforms, etc.

  • Residing in the West Coast, familiarity with corporate, academic and government accounts

Travel Requirements:

  • As required to meet business objectives
