Job Overview

The Compliance Coordinator is the liaison between the Behavioral Health Program and the Compliance department. The Compliance Coordinator is an integral part of the behavioral healthcare team, helping to support the team to meet regulatory requirements for documentation. The Compliance Coordinator provides the program with Internal Chart Audits, Compliance Documentation Training, and External Audit Support.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership Responsibility: 

  • Responsible for practicing the Department Culture and values.
  • Responsible for the integration of Behavioral Health Programs and Compliance department to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Meets regularly with Program Leadership to ensure Program Leadership is informed of new Compliance Procedures and initiatives.
  • Represents HealthRIGHT 360 by attending external meetings and trainings when assigned.
  • Chart Documentation and Audit Support Responsibility: 

  • Responsible for ensuring that all documentation is in compliance with DMC and/or DMH standards.
  • Completes Internal Chart Audits and CAPS for at least 20% of all charts.
  • Initiates CAPS during Internal Chart Audits and follows up on CAPS all the way through to completion.
  • Runs weekly Chart Compliance Reports and oversees the CAP for weekly Chart Compliance Reports.
  • Provides training on Compliance Regulations and the Internal Audit Tool.
  • Provides Program Audit Support during external Program Audits.
  • Policy and Procedure Responsibility: 

  • Supports Program Compliance with Policy and Procedure by providing onsite consultation concerning Policy and Procedure. 
  • May assist with site specific policy development for Compliance matters.
  • Office of Integrity Responsibility:

  • Incident Reports.
  • Provides training on Incident Report process to the Programs. 
  • Grievances. 
  • Provides training on Grievance process to the Programs. 
  • Responsible for communication with the client via letter correspondence for basic grievances.
  • Legal and Ethical Matters Responsibility: 

  • Responsible for ensuring HIPAA and 42 CFR pt. II compliance at assigned locations.
  • Administrative and Other Responsibility:

  • Maintains compliance with agency’s policies and procedures.
  • Arrangement of work schedule in accordance with the agency’s needs.
  • Attend internal meetings as assigned.
  • Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or SUD Certification.
  • Master’s Degree and BBS Registration preferred.
  • Desired:

  • Background in compliance or auditing.
  • Familiarity with DMC regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with DMH regulatory requirements.
  • Background Clearance Required:

  • Able to clear location required background check or CDCR clearance (if required) at assigned location.
  • Knowledge Required:

  • Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Outlook and internet applications.
  • Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self sufficiency.

  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and trauma informed treatment.
  • Knowledge of clinical documentation (treatment plans, progress notes etc.).
  • Experience working with criminal justice population.
  • Bilingual preferred.
