We work in a fast-paced and competitive industry that demands hard work and dedication, but we have built a unique company culture that allows our growing team to support our success, each other, and surpass our goals all while having fun Job Purpose This individual will be responsible for management and execution of the International and domestic freight strategy, reducing lead-times, reducing costs and increasing visibility. This role will lead the standardization and transformation of global freight by establishing a clear vendor path for growth, cost savings, spend analysis, contract reviews, pricing, supplier management and customs process. This role is the owner of the Departmental Budget and responsible for development, approval and oversight throughout the year. Work with regional leadership to implement short and long-term solutions that deliver significant cost advantages while maintaining performance excellence. Duties & Responsibilities * Project and time management: Plan tasks and deliverables accurately, prioritize tasks and adapt as needed based upon changing priorities. Responsive to requests, accountable for actions * Problem-solving: Prevent and solve issues, understand and mitigate problems, recognize cause and effect relationships between functions * Cross-functional collaboration and communication to quickly understand and resolve issues * Developing Staff (increasing competence and engagement) * Customer focus: Understand and monitor the needs of internal and external customers * Other duties may be assigned be manager or supervisor International and Domestic Freight * Supports the strategy development and execution for transacting all third-party freight into a common Transportation Management System * Leads cross functional exercises to drive visibility and process automation across the organization for third party shipment tracking optimization * Efficiency plan and coordination of administrative activities to ensure accurate results in all aspects freight related operations * Arrange daily/weekly meetings with staff as appropriate to review overall team/individual performance * Supports field in resolving third-party carrier related issues, pricing discrepancies and identifies cost savings opportunities * Provides market intelligence and outlook that impact transportation and customs spend and helps identify and execute mitigation strategies * Manages freight forwarder compliance/performance through reporting and analytics to ensure success of the program. Negotiate freight rates, ensure adequate supply of equipment and make sure pick-ups and deliveries meet our customers' needs. * Negotiate costs & service with logistics providers (parcel service, LTL, TL, FCL, LCL, Global carriers) * Resolves issues or requests related to transportation, customs clearance, carrier performance, selection, billing issues/discrepancies * Monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for performance and cost reduction * Develop working relationships with third party or partner carriers in order to secure shipping modes * Maintain a high level of customer service and oversee on-time pick-ups, deliveries and changing customer requirements * Own outbound transportation and logistics with key goals of improving delivery time to customers and reducing the cost of transportation. Full responsibility for transportation expense item in P&L * Negotiate 3PL and direct contracts aligned with mid-term and long-term strategy with key carriers to improve pricing, performance, and support * Prioritize, schedule and delegate responsibilities and work assignments to help achieve goals in an efficient manner * Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to support associates' continued development and enrichment Continuous improvement * Drive performance improvement through the use and interpretation of Continuous Improvement Tools * Address the root causes of issues, create corrective action plans and implement long term solutions * Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required with internal and cross-functional teams * Deploy Lean methods to simplify processes, eliminate waste/non-value adding activities and improve workflow: evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of processes, procedures, and daily workflow * Develop, implement and maintain work instructions and process documentation * Challenge the team to be Customer Centric, including developing strategies to enhance our customer service and our growth, focusing on deliveries that are on-time, in-full and defect-free to influence positive customer feedback results, responsiveness to internal and external customers * Project management * Manage project activity and enhance operational performance efficiency: Automation, implement process improvement techniques and expansion/relocation * Create ROI and cost benefit analysis for implementation of initiatives and expenditures to improve processes * Identify, prioritize, plan and execute improvements in an organized, efficient and effective manner Qualification and Skills Required * Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate well with all levels of the organization - English * 5+ years of relevant work experience in global freight * Strong interpersonal and leadership skills * Proven ability to drive cohesion and collaboration among many different people & functions * Confidence, presence, and credibility to command the respect of colleagues and senior stakeholders, especially within Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Services, Logistics, and Finance. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs * Adaptable / Flexible - being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances * 6 Sigma, Lean (Kaizens, Workouts, Process mapping), Quality Control, Vendor Management Inventory, improved productivity * Team value and how to successfully motivate and maintain employee involvement while driving change * Organizational skills, with ability to manage competing priorities * Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and MS-Project skills Physical Requirements * This position requires frequent sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and operating a computer workstation * Must have finger dexterity, ability to use keyboard/ten key * This position may rarely require kneeling, bending, squatting * Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds * Reach, stoop and lift office files, records or reports, typically weighing 20 pounds or less Travel Ability to travel up to 20% of the time By applying for this role, I understand that if I'm offered a position with the company I will be required to submit to the pre-employment aptitude testing, and background screening as a condition of employment.
