Various Federal and State level incentives are driving the economics for innovative waste solutions favorably, increasing the demand for engineering and consulting services involving new or upgraded infrastructure.Our offices in California are looking for a Senior Waste Management and Energy Professional to grow our business. The successful candidate will support projects involving a wide variety of waste management facilities such as organics processing facilities, materials recovery facilities, transfer stations, biosolids processing facilities, landfills and biogas upgrading. The intent is to support the full project cycle, including business development, technical project delivery and project management. This person must be able to integrate into a rapidly-growing solid waste practice and interface with a number of existing subject matter experts while fostering relationships with existing and new clients.Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:Client:* Builds on previous client relationships to provide opportunities and support Business Group development* Serves as the client manager for key clients and develops/executes associated client engagement plans* Actively participates in professional and/or industrial organizations to promote the GHD brand* Promotes and collaborates in the development of innovative project delivery methods* Responsible for preparing, negotiating and winning significant multidisciplinary and complex waste-to-energy projects for the company. Win repeat business through successful project delivery* Ensure that the needs of the Client are met in the most economical and effective manner* Drives positive client interaction as verified through client surveysPeople:* Collaborates with Global, North American and Regional Market Leaders, Client Resource Managers, Service Line Leaders, and Client Sector Leaders to achieve excellent business outcomes* Finds and attracts strategic hires to the Business Group* Develops and mentors rising talent within the Business Group* Participates in the onboarding and training of new staff* Works with project directors, managers, and teams to establish and improve Business Group job delivery skills* Possess the ability to effectively communicate inadequacies in information provided by others and offer recommendations to comply with applicable design and safety codesPerformance:* Responsible for providing leadership in technical areas and project management for the group including planning, design, plant specification, tender negotiation/award over a large spectrum of Waste-to-Energy Projects* Ability to drive multiple projects* Pre-positions for projects, develops opportunities, and obtains RFPs* Develops successful proposals, including technical responses, scope of work packages, org charts and budget estimates* Drives financial performance with respect to the groups key performance indicators (KPIs).* Manages, mitigates, and reports on risks within the Business Group* Adheres to GHD Management Systems for Safety, Integrity, Quality, and EnvironmentRequirements:* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Professional Engineer eligible for registration in California* 15+ years of experience in the project management of design projects for municipal and industrial infrastructure type projects* 10+ years of extensive experience leading the design delivery for larger, multi-discipline projects specifically for industrial/process plants, facilities, or buildings* Strong project management skills & experience in California* Outstanding interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written), with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization in a collaborative fashion* Proven experience collaborating with contractors and supervising project teams* Existing relationships within the waste management (and/or Water/Wastewater and Energy & Resources) industry, particularly in CaliforniaWhy GHD?Be a part of a high functioning team, where everything we do is inspired by a level of passion and professional pride that comes from being employee owned.
