The Gelsons Markets Meat Cutters primary responsibility is cutting meat and preparing related products in the variety, size, quality and trim prescribed by the department and company quality standards. The Meat Cutter will also stock the meat and seafood items as assigned. Experience working in a meat and/or seafood department is mandatory. Gelsons Markets is well known for our quality meat & seafood products. As a Gelsons Markets Meat Cutter, you will be first in line to ensure product quality by regular rotation on stocked product, verifying refrigeration temperatures and following all department standards. The Meat Cutter may also be required to lift up to 100 pounds by carrying cartons of poultry and cases of meat & seafood products. As a Gelsons Markets Meat Cutter, you will come in direct contact with our customers. Excellent customer service, attentive listening and resourceful assistance are crucial. The ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers and all levels of staff within Gelsons Markets is mandatory. The Gelsons Meat Cutter must possess strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Experience is mandatory. All meat department positions start at part time. Pay rate will be dependent on experience. Physical requirements: * Continuous hand manipulation including, grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation * Repetitive use of hand * Reaching above and at shoulder level frequently * Walking and standing up to 6 hours per day * Bending and twisting frequently * Lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs. * Working near hazardous machinery (Band saw, knives, grinders, tenderizers) * Exposure to noise (Saws, wrappers, blowers on refrigeration units) * Exposure to extremes in temperature (Freezers and coolers)
