Gelsons Markets is well known for our enticing array of freshly prepared hot foods, gourmet salads and salad bar. The Service Deli Hot Foods Chef plays an important role in promoting a quality image of the company through the department presentation and delivery of an excellent product. The Service Deli Hot Foods Chef prepares food products according to Gelsons recipes and standards. Following all HAACP program standards is essential in the production of all prepared foods.
The Hot Foods Chef is responsible for the safe and timely preparation and presentation of various items including proteins, entrees and side dishes. Preparation may include baking, frying, grilling, roasting or steaming. Hot Foods Chefs additionally are responsible for customer service, dishing, weighing and tagging items.
The Hot Foods Chef must also display a clear understanding of all cooking techniques and terminologies, monitor food quality to assure finished items meet Gelsons standards. The ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers and all levels of staff within Gelsons Markets is mandatory. The Service Deli Hot Foods Chef must possess strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Strong working knowledge of food service operations is required.
Opportunities for growth include, but are not limited to, Assistant Kitchen Manager, Gourmet Salad Chef or Salad Bar.
All service deli positions start at part time.
Pay rate will be dependent on experience.
Walking, Standing, Bending, Squatting, Climbing and Twisting
Hand manipulation required such as; Grasping, Power Grasping, Pushing and Pulling and Fine Manipulation

Working near hazardous equipment and machinery (Mixer, slicer, stove & ovens)

Exposure to extremes in temperature (ovens and walk-in freezers)
