We're looking for a Consumer Loan Underwriter to join the fast-paced Consumer Lending team. Qualified candidates will have a prior experience underwriting auto, boat, and credit card products. You'll need to be familiar with various credit unions lending policies and lending regulations and have a full understanding of loan contracts including APR, amortization schedules, and simple interest calculations. You'll be joining a team that is dedicated to providing top-level service, while also working to achieve aggressive volume goals.

Job duties
* Review and verify accuracy of collateral details, employment profile, credit strength and all other pertinent loan documentation and information
* Recognize, structure, present and approve additional loan opportunities to maximize member benefits
* Serve as a resource to employees on underwriting questions
* Provide adverse actions according to proper regulatory guidelines
* Apply independent judgment that aligns with credit union policy, guidelines, tolerances and in adherence to regulatory guidelines to reach a sound decision
Essential skills
* Minimum 3 years' experience in Consumer lending underwriting
* Experience with finance computations, lending calculators and general consumer loan applications
* Analytical skills with the ability to calculate lending ratios, conduct loan risk analysis and properly identify credit issues, fraud and/or other associated lending risks
* Strong business communication skills; able to write/speak clearly and professionally for a variety of audiences
* Proficient in the use of loan calculators to execute basic financial mathematics including simple interest calculations and amortization schedules
* Ability to work autonomously to manage time effectively and prioritize work appropriately to meet deadlines in a high volume production environment
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to apply sound independent judgement
* Strong understanding of loan contracts including APR, amortization schedules, and simple interest calculations
* Strong knowledge of credit union lending policy and lending regulations including Reg B, Reg Z, FACTA & FCRA, Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA)
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other software
* FCRA Certification (or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire)
* Bachelor's degree (preferably in Business Administration or other related fields of study)
