Local Unit & Position Description Do you want to be part of an organization dedicated to tackling global issues such as climate change? DNV is growing our Strategy Team within the Energy Systems' group and is looking to add a senior or principal consultant to support grid modernization and decarbonization efforts. This role will be responsible for supporting and leading business development and thought leadership efforts on strategic issues in the energy transition including grid modernization, decarbonization, non-wires alternatives, distributed energy resources, electric vehicles, and evolving utility economics and energy market dynamics; leading project teams; and mentoring junior staff. This position may be based out of any of DNV's continental U.S. offices. Could be a remote position based from any location in the continental U.S. (except Colorado).What you'll do * Support project-based teams in the delivery of strategic research studies and analyses by serving as the project manager or project sponsor and/or providing support as a subject matter expert or senior advisor. This can include client interaction, development of proposals or work plans, leadership of project teams or tasks, and preparation of deliverables and presentation of results * Work closely with DNV's Director of Strategy to develop and fulfill the team's decarbonization and grid modernization goals * Provide insights and lead and/or support research and analysis on strategic energy programs and policies, including road mapping, resource potential analyses, cost-benefit analyses, adoption forecasting, program development support, and regulatory support * Interpret customers' problems to be solved and convert into value-added opportunities * Work with the Strategy team to generate ideas for persuasive thought leadership content and contribute to the execution of those products including reports, white papers, blogs, and op-eds * Create resources and tools for policy, energy market, and regulatory analysis * Collaborate with DNV staff on other teams in North America and globally (Digitalization & Analytics, Design & Evaluation, and Engineering & Technology, Power System Advisory, Storage and Grid Edge, and Renewables Advisory) to identify opportunities for collaboration and innovation and develop creative approaches to customer problems * Operate with a teamwork mentality that leads to building and maintaining interpersonal relationships, providing guidance to researchers and consultants and collaborating with other project managers and team members to share knowledge and best practices * Ensure all work products are high quality, effective, and timely; effectively utilize analysts and consultants at DNV to effectively ensure high standards of accuracy * Act as a public spokesperson for DNV representing the organization at conferences and other public speaking venues Position Qualifications What is Required * Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or emphasis in a relevant discipline (Such as Business, Statistics, Economics, Environmental and Energy Policy, Engineering) preferred * Minimum 7 years of work experience in data analysis, program design and evaluation, or market research is required * Minimum 5 years of experience in the policy or regulatory field, specifically in energy markets or grid modernization is required * Experience in a consulting environment preferred * Experience with RTO/ISO market dynamics, utility economics, energy regulation and policy making * Demonstrated curiosity and desire to continue learning and evolving with the market. An understanding of trends in decarbonization and grid modernization developments, policies, and markets * Willingness to undertake new and exciting activities and think creatively to find a solution to a problem * An interest in using data and research to tell a story * Motivation for sourcing and/or successfully steering efforts to obtain new business * Accustomed to multi-tasking and working under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment * Ability to effectively lead, motivate and coach people in varying disciplines to achieve improved overall performance * Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; comfortable communicating with team members with different cultural backgrounds and experience * Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and have a positive, team-oriented attitude and professional demeanor * Proven ability to manage tasks to quality, budget, and deadline targets * Strong written and verbal English communication skills * We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening * Note: Please submit a cover letter with your resume that details your specific knowledge in the areas of energy markets, policies, and regulation as well as your strengths relative to the other requirements (required)Immigration-related benefits (for example, visa sponsorship) are not available for this position How We Do It We Care, We Dare, We Share Our mission is to safeguard life, property, and the environment.
