Job DescriptionIntroduction to the role: We are looking for someone who is curious, observant, and is dedicated to continuous learning in a fast-paced environment. The associate will be the technical lead and coordinate medium to large scale projects with mentorship from management. In addition, craft, develop, and validate test methods and protocols for performance verification and validation of hardware and consumables designs, including IQ/OQ/PQ activities as vital, and will execute testing, perform data analysis, and make recommendations to the team regarding system performance relative to defined metrics.Most importantly, the associate should exhibit the desire and ability to collaborate and excel in teamwork and communication, as well as be able to work independently with minimum guidance. This associate will work with all levels of the company and collaborates with New Product Development Engineering, Software, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Regulatory, Customer Care, and Manufacturing as well as other multi-functional teams.Essential job responsibilities:* Must demonstrate leadership skill, drive, and self-initiative to deliver clear business outcome.* Independently research solutions, fix and resolve complex engineering problems issues. Analyzes data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results.* Applies multiple engineering subject areas to plan, organize and conduct technical projects within design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of new or enhanced hardware products or systems. Projects may involve exploration of products and/or process problems, definition and selection of new concepts and approaches, origination or modification of material, component and process specifications and requirements.* Resolve impact of failures to different areas of the business* Continuously document progress during define, design, validation, and verification phase, and prepare final reports* Communication of results and progress to executive leadership* Provide recommendations for investigation direction and/or countermeasuresRecommend and implement improvements to current design, procedures, and process* Collaborate closely with Operations to support internal test equipment and programs to ensure the continuity of product flow and qualityREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (MINIMAL COMPETENCIES)Education/Experience:* Bachelor's degree in field with 5+ years of related work experience OR* Master's degree in field with 3+ years of related work experience OR* Doctoral degree in field with 0-2 years of related work experience* Fields of Electrical Engineering preferred, Industrial Engineering, Optical Science, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.Knowledge and Skills:* Strong technical background in mechanical, electrical test, and optics fundamentals, particularly in electrical functional test, and optical measurement techniques* Ability to work multi-functionally, solve and resolve sophisticated engineering problems by analyzing existing product issues and performance* Knowledge of manufacturing processes (including soft and hard tooling, machining, injection molding, wire EDM, MIM, electro polish, brazing, heat treatment)* Knowledge of electrical systems and apparatus, such as electric motors, sensors, LED, machinery controls, PCBA, cable harness, touch screen, LCD, battery, printer, and scanner* Experience in contract manufacturer product transfer, and medical/Biotech industry* Create ECO, and released documentation in Agile. Document findings in detail report, and present findings to multi-functional Core team.* Review supplier and contract manufacturer capability to support product & process improvement.* Clear and concise technical writing for the documentation of experiments and test reports* Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills (oral and written)* Excellent writing and documentation skills* Experience working in a laboratory* All other duties as assignedPreferred Experience:* Proficient in SolidWork, Excel, PowerPoint* Experience with NPI process, and Design Control process* Experience with design of experiments (DoE)* Experience with root cause analysis techniques and documentation of results* Experience with Data analysis using MiniTab, Origin, Mathematica, Matlab, or equivalent software.
