If you like the sound of this position, but are not sure if you are the perfect fit, please apply!Role:The spacecraft operations team is responsible for building, maintaining, and improving the software, infrastructure, and systems that run Capella spacecraft. We prepare for satellite launches, maintain spacecraft on-orbit, and develop new capabilities to improve how customers can collect and access Earth imagery. The team's focus is on software and system engineering with the goal of developing a fully-autonomous, rapid-response spacecraft operations system. All members of the team at all levels are expected to participate in the on-call rotation that responds to anomalies so that we provide reliable performance our customers can depend on.We seek to push boundaries and solve challenging problems where there aren't known answers. Learning to be comfortable with uncertainty and taking the initiative are key skills for success. The team values and always strives to maintain a collaborative and supportive environment where supporting each other, teaching, and learning are our core principles-we tackle our challenges together.As a ground software engineering lead you will define the guide and mentor the team responsible for building, testing, deploying, and maintaining the applications that run out satellites from improving our command and telemetry pipeline, automating spacecraft operations, building out autonomous anomaly response, you'll work across a variety of problems. Day-to-day responsibilities as providing key technical expertise in the areas of software architecture and engineering. You will help set broad direction and strategy, establishing practices to ensure the quality and performance of the system is maintained and customer needs are met.Desired Qualifications (Not All Are Expected):* Past project leadership and mentoring experience* Strong knowledge of a programming language. Either scripted (Python, Julia, etc.) or complied (C, C++, Rust, etc.)* Good foundations of software architecture, interface design, and testing patterns.* Experience building production software and API services.* Knowledge of distributed task/worker systems.* Knowledge of building database-backed applications and technologies (SQL, NoSQL, and Timeseries)* Experience setting up logging, monitoring, and metrics for applications.* Good communications skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and enjoyment of learning from and teaching other team new skills.* Used to continually learning new concepts and developing new skills.Required Qualifications:* This position requires special access to conduct the work and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.In addition to an opportunity to take part in an innovative and fast-growing business with a highly motivated and skilled team, we also take pride in taking care of our employees.
