This position requires the ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative and perform related work as required. Position will serve in a lead role as subject matter expert and trainer.* Key Duties & Responsibilities:* Works with the unit underwriters to issue policies, process endorsements and to maintain Broker relationships.* Make direct contact with brokers and their assistants including participating in meetings and visits as required* Provides good customer service by responding promptly and courteously to all requests for information, working with the underwriter to assess accounts for quoting and, binding* Review and e-mail quote and binder letters* Prepare policies for policy issuance* Review policies for accuracy and regulatory standards* Input policy and underwriting data in appropriate systems* Works to prepare submission risk evaluation for review by the underwriter* Review new submissions for complete information and appropriate underwriting appetite* Prepare the renewal for underwriting review and evaluation for quotations and binders* Manage diary system to ensure that all necessary information is received within established timelines* Follow up of delinquent data* Maintain submission and policy files according to documented standards* Works with premium accounting to resolve premium and data discrepancies.* Handle special projects and assignment as directed.Required Education/Training & Experience:* College degree preferred, and/or equivalent work experience in Multi-line commercial insurance. High school diploma required.* Minimum 5-7 years of prior experience within the commercial insurance industry as an underwriting assistant or in a similar role* Must possess a solid understanding of insurance coverages and principles, codes, rating, and compliance guidelines* Solid mathematical aptitude* Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Strong aptitude for learning new computer programs is required.* Strong knowledge of underwriting principles and processesOther desired skills and characteristics:* Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills, as well as strong customer service skills; ability to problem solve and communicate professionally with the broker contacts* Ability to work independently with little direct supervision* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
