Colusa Medical Center, provides both inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency services, to the surrounding community bringing exceptional healthcare and service to our community. We are looking for an experienced OR manger to act as an Infection Preventionist RN and grow the surgical program in 2 Northern California small community rural hospitals (Colusa Medical Center & Glenn Medical Center). Primarily endoscopy and orthopedics cases, but expect these surgical programs to grow over the next year. POSITION SUMMARY The Operating Room Manager is a registered professional nurse who assumes the administrative responsibility for all functions in the OR, recovery room, short stay services and Central Supply on a 24-hour basis. He/she evaluates the quality of nursing care rendered to all patients in these areas including, but not limited to, the immediate pre-operative stage, the intra-operative stage and the immediate recovery stage. He/she supervises all nursing personnel in all areas of surgery. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Must be currently licensed in the State of California. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Current CPR. Two to five years of experience in the OR. Minimum of two years' experience in nursing management. Demonstrate leadership abilities. Completion of critical care class including basic arrhythmia interpretation. Knowledge and experience in the perioperative care of surgical patients. Able to work under stressful situations. Possess good oral and written communication skills. Demonstrate interpersonal relationships in a manner which enhances communication, promote conflict resolution and facilitate staff development. POSITION SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE MEASURES * Direct and supervise OR, post-anesthesia care unit and Central Supply providing supportive counseling as needed. * Maintain high levels of nursing care and a safe environment for all patients cared for within the department. * Review staff performance evaluations. * Control quantity and quality of nursing care by establishing performance standards, analyzing needs and recommending and implementing changes. * Interview, hire, counsel, discipline and terminate employees. * Direct the scheduling of surgical procedures, making decision involving conflicts in scheduling and arrangements or individual specialized procedures. * Act as a liaison between OR services, medical staff and hospital administration. * Establish OR services department policies with appropriate medical staff committees and ensure that they and hospital personnel policies, codes and laws are observed. * Coordinate OR services nursing activities with those of other departments contributing to nursing care. Confer with department managers directly affected before instituting change or initiating new policies/procedures. * Ensure that timely staff meetings are held. * Inform staff of policy and procedural changes. * Provide opportunity for 'round table' discussion. * Ensure that working manuals for policies/procedures for the department and the hospital are updated and maintained in each department area. * Prepare and submit recommendations for the annual department budget with implementation of same. * Ensure investigation and ordering of new instruments and equipment.
