We have an immediate need for an Accounting Manager in our Sacramento shared service center. The Accounting Manager reports to the Senior Director, Financial Operations, and manages the Aerospace & Defense segment Project cost accounting and reporting functions, acting as the liaison between Accounting, Finance, Tax, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Supply Chain.
Key responsibilities include project cost and transaction analysis, review and oversight of preparation of contract balance sheets (Financial Reporting and Tax), reconciliation of Project sub ledger Revenue and COS to General Ledger and other improving and standardizing project cost reporting including the EIM tool QLIK. Review of Contract Assessment Forms (CAFs) and accounting for Program Reserves. Primary liaison with the company's independent auditors, internal auditors and government auditors with respect to these items. This is a hands-on environment whereby this role works on complex problems that require analysis of situations or an in-depth evaluation of various factors. This position exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
40% - Plans, organizes and directs projects accounting activities. Directs the work of assigned staff, ensuring standardization of the cost accounting function, resolving source of recurring variances and month-end close activities. Ensures complete understanding and proper cost-side GAAP treatment on specific business transactions. Develops and directs accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of project costs and contract assets and liabilities. Assists with the financial planning process including ownership of project cost accounting data. Manages the analysis and preparation of results and variances, locally and division wide, for quarterly cost reporting and presents to upper management on a monthly or quarterly basis.
35% - Interacts with cross-functional managers and groups, providing expertise and serving as financial contact for all project cost-transaction and providing written guidance of proper GAAP. Develops communication lines and shares day-to-day information with cross functional groups. Develops and maintains guidelines and procedures to monitor the accuracy of the project costs and the interface to the General Ledger. Manages the analysis and preparation of financial statements, variance reports pertaining to contract assets and liabilities, project costs, and reserves. Assist with identifying efficiencies and standard processes in the Project Cost module and reducing the use of spreadsheets.
25% - Develops, documents and maintains process controls (cost accounting, project costs, and SEC reporting) and updates to related SOX documents. Interprets and recommends proactive changes and develops plans for improvement. Performs complex analysis of under/over applied. Develops applicable schedules and supporting information for annual audits and SEC reporting.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and at least fourteen (14) years progressively responsible experience in Finance/Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires demonstrated managerial skills and a strong working knowledge of GAAP methods to include accounts payable, general ledger, fixed assets, inventory, project cost accounting, and SEC reporting. Experience in SOX implementation and compliance. Must be proficient in Excel.
Independent, self-motivated individual with strong organization skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to manage projects, able to prioritize to meet critical deadlines, and focus on work product quality and accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with hands on approach to process improvement and effective problem resolution.
Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
